Hope Chapel Academy is a private Christian K-12 school in the state of California operated under the jurisdiction of Hope Chapel Christian Church.  Each family is encouraged to utilize a variety of independent study options to custom-fit each student’s education to his or her own unique needs and abilities.  Coursework may be supplemented with classes available through our HELP Program (Hope’s Extension Learning Program), the community, the Internet, and other providers.

Started in 1987, Hope Chapel Academy graduated its first high school students in 1997.  The 2007-2008 enrollment is 170 students.  We admit students of all ethnicities and currently have students of Asian, African-American, Hispanic, and Caucasian backgrounds.

Ninety-seven percent of our graduates have continued their formal education beyond high school.  Hope Chapel Academy has had 2 National Merit Finalists and 4 Commended Scholars.  Over the past 3 years, 41% of college-bound seniors have enrolled directly in a 4-year college or university while 59% began at a community college.  Academy graduates have been accepted at a wide variety of institutions of higher education including the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech), University of Southern California (USC), University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), California State Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO), Loyola Marymount University (LMU), Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Pepperdine University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Biola University, The Master’s College, LeTourneau University, Hamline University, Valpariso University, and the California State Universities at Long Beach, San Diego, Northridge, Dominguez Hills, Fresno and San Francisco.

Hope Chapel Academy’s high school robotics team (Beach ‘Bots, team #330) competes nationally through the FIRST robotics competition (www.usfirst.org).  They have won 6 Regional Robotics Competitions since 2000 and won the World Championship title in 2005.  A junior robotics program for ages 9-14, Lego League, is establishing a similar reputation for competitive excellence in science and technology.  High school athletics competition is possible through a CIF-sanctioned multi-school team under the direction of Pacific Lutheran High School in Torrance. Academy also encourages student participation in community sports teams, Boy Scouts, musical theater, community choir and band, and service opportunities through church and local organizations.
