Hope Chapel Ministry Institute and Hope Chapel Women's Ministry is sponsoring a half-day conference for men and women featuring Dr.'s Erik and Donna Thoennes. The vision for this conference is to present a profoundly Biblical view of what it is to be male and female. We want those who attend the conference to leave, glorifying God in his magnificent wisdom in creating both men and women in his image yet with complementary roles.

Erik and Donna Thoennes have loved being married for 20 years and live in La Mirada with their 8 year old daughter Caroline. They are daily amazed that God has saved them and is able to use them for his glory.
Erik and Donna are both on the faculty of Biola University where Erik teaches theology for Talbot School of Theology and Donna teaches humanities in The Torrey Honors Institute. Their home church is Grace Evangelical Free Church of La Mirada where Erik is a pastor and Donna helps to lead a ministry to orphans, coordinates the engaged couples class, and disciples younger women. They both graduated from Central Connecticut State University, Wheaton College Graduate School, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School before moving to Southern California. Before that they ran a group home for developmentally disabled men, and lived in Eupre for several years while Erik played American football there.
The Thoennes family loves to travel, especially doing missions work and seeing what God is doing for his glory among the nations. Erik wrote Godly Jealousy: A Theology of Intolerant Love, (Mentor Press), and was a contributor to the recently published ESV Study Bible. Donna has published articles on Christian community and contributed to the Women's Evangelical New Testament Commentary (Broadman & Holman). Erik is also on the board of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.
