When the Apostle Paul taught Timothy that all Scripture was God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16) he was talking about the Old Testament.  This is the Bible that Jesus read!  Yet, only a few Christians possess the patience and perseverance to work through Genesis to Malachi.  After all, the culture, history and language are so different from ours.  And, all those Hebrew names are impossible to pronounce.  How can we read the OT and understand what's going on?  Even more importantly, is the God of the Old Testament the same God of the New Testament?  Learn that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ begins not in Matthew 1:1, but in Genesis 1:1.

Old Testament Survey 1
Encountering the Pentateuch: Genesis to Deuteronomy

In Greek, the Pentateuch means the "Five Scrolls (or Books).  It might better be called the Book of Moses, with five big chapters (Genesis-Exodus-Leviticus-Numbers-Deuteronomy).  Learn how God created the world, how He created a people and saved them from slavery, gave them the Law , taught them how to worship and much more.  Find out how the Gospel of the greatness of our gracious God starts.  Discover how the Bible begins.

Old Testament Survey 2
Encountering the Historical and Poetical Books: Joshua to Song of Solomon

Learn the saga of the rise and fall of the nation of Israel, detailing stories of good kings and bad ones, true prophets and liars, heroic priests and cowards, and how God was sovereignly ruling over all. Listen to the poetry of Israel, teaching people how to live, how to laugh, how to cry, how to suffer, how to pray, and how to praise God.

Old Testament Survey 3
Encountering the Prophets: Isaiah to Malachi

God is a talking God, and He talks through His prophets. Hear God rebuke sin, rebellion and idolatry. Watch how God punishes His people by scattering them from the Promised Land. Listen to His promise to bring restoration and salvation through a future and coming king.
